The primary difference between a CD player and a Radio is that while both play sound, one stores all the content locally. At the same time, the other is purely a receiver of information from an external source. Artificial General Intelligence (AGI) is an advanced form of artificial intelligence capable of understanding, learning, and performing any intellectual task a human can. Unlike narrow AI systems that excel at specific tasks (such as image recognition or language translation), AGI aims to exhibit flexible reasoning, adapt to unfamiliar situations, and integrate knowledge across different domains. Achieving AGI would allow machines to reason, learn, and make decisions like humans do, though researchers are still in the early stages of turning this vision into reality.
AGI’s premise is that the human brain works like a CD player. What if it is not? What proof demonstrates that our brains work based only on information stored inside the grey matter? If our brain is a combination of a CD player and a radio, then the achievement of AGI would not constitute a replication of the human brain. In this, I am pointing to the idea that consciousness may have some link to an external source. Perhaps this is that elusive unified field theory that physicists are searching for.
Western civilization has directed the world toward a materialistic/physical view of the universe in the last few centuries. It is primarily because of the nature of “scientific” inquiry and validation. Our definition of fact states it must be objective and verifiable independently. But does that mean that unverifiable concepts do not exist? It only means that our current evolutionary state permits the exchange and validation of information based on our five senses, and therefore, verifiability is limited. For the mathematically minded, verifiability must follow the “closure” property – meaning we only accept those operations of the brain that allow verification with the five senses.
What if our fascination and engrossment with the material/physical world is preventing us from realizing the radio nature of our brain? AGI may be a natural order of the universe to free ourselves from that distraction and then lead the human race to recognize the source of consciousness.
